TSDCA Audio Drama/Podcast Summit – Session 8

Dialogue Editing with Isaac Jones

In a medium that lacks any visual aid, storytelling relies more than ever on the well-crafted pacing and intelligibility of it’s primary tool: dialogue. This 2-part workshop will focus on dialogue editing and mixing techniques for podcasts and audio drama. Part one will be a demonstration of common best practices for creating a smooth and organic edit, whether working from a script or simply tightening a live conversation. We will also delve into my personal workflow for completing a professional quality mix with EQ, compression and automation. At the end of the first session, attendees will walk away with a Pro Tools session they can use to practice the techniques we explore. In Part two, guests will be invited back to ask any questions that emerge during their work on the case study in a personalized class setting.
