TSDCA/ Meyer Sound workshop

November 20, 2017 12pm
American Repertory Theater

12pm-6pm. Event limited to 25 people; please RSVP below. UPDATE: We have reached our limit…but are accepting RSVP’s for the waiting list. We hope to get you in!!

It has always been that technology and art are intertwined. Sometimes a problem for one is a solution for the other. Meyer has been utilizing computer control and signal processing for decades now and has taken user feedback to create tools to apply to live sound in the theatre. This is a workshop to see how these tools work in different situations, to try some programming of the system, and to discuss what has been done by other designers in similar situations.

This session will focus on using Meyer Sound’s D-Mitri system to increase the designer’s creative control over how sound is perceived and manipulated in a space, with an eye (ear?) toward uniting design, programming and engineering in a unified sound design. The session will be led by Meyer Sound expert Richard Bugg and hosted by Sam Lerner, Sound Manager of the American Repertory Theater. This workshop is intended as an interactive experience for attendees, with optional exercises being given out prior to attendance and plenty of opportunity for questions and feedback.

For those coming from NYC – there are multiple bus options and several trains. Amtrak trains leave Penn at 6:55 (normal) and 8am (Acela) and return at 6:45pm and 9:30pm. Further info at https://tickets.amtrak.com/itd/amtrak.
