Demystifying Modes- What are musical modes, and how can we use them as designers and storytellers? An exploration of modes from their harmonic foundations, to their unique characteristics, and how they might be applied to expand and enrich design choices.

Andrew Lynch is a composer, sound designer, and performer. Recent projects include Murder on the Dancefloor, an immersive murder mystery dance party with Bread Arts Collective at NACL, original score for the short film Delphine by writer/director Deborah Stein, The How and the Why with director Austin Pendleton at the Sheen Center, and The Eye Which We Do Not Have created by Kate Brehm which was developed at Harvard University, The O’Neill Theatre Center and presented at HERE Arts Puppetopia Festival. Upcoming projects include an LDK Writer’s Residency to further develop the new musical ROAR!, and the puppet/object theatre creation Champagne Dreams by 3 Sticks at the International Puppet Fringe Festival NYC.  He is a cofounder of the Brooklyn art space Cloud City, and he was the 21’-22’ Mitchell Fellow in Composition and Sound Design at the Mitchell Center for the Arts in Houston, Texas. He received his MFA in Sound Design at UCSD and he is currently an Assistant Professor of Sound Design at Auburn University.
