MixCon: A Pop Track Production and Mix Walkthrough + Q&A with Michael Brauer
October 7, 2020 3:00pm
Multiple Grammy winner, NYC based producer Michael Brauer is known for an unusual implementation of multi-bus compression, referred to as ‘Brauerizing’, in which various instrumental sections of a mix are sent to different compressors in an ABCD implementation, while vocals are usually sent to separate compressors in parallel. His credits include best-selling artists from a wide range spectrum and include Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Prefab Sprout, James Brown, Aerosmith, Jeff Buckley, David Byrne, Tony Bennett, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Ben Folds, Pet Shop Boys, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, KT Tunstall, and Martha Wainwright.
WHAT IS MIXCON?
MixCon is a free educational event for musicians and aspiring producers/mixing engineers. Its goal is to advise them on the art of mixing, the science it’s based upon, and the techniques top engineers employ to shape the sounds in the directions they envision, and to make them coexist in a balanced fashion.
Because of COVID-19, in 2020 MixCon will be a virtual event, but it’s normally hosted in NYC, and includes a pro audio expo where our sponsors showcase their latest products and take the opportunity to educate visitors about plug ins, microphoes, audio speakers and more.
