Jimmy Douglass started his studio career in the early ’70s as a part-time tape duplicator while still attending high school. He went on to work with great Atlantic Recording artists such as Aretha Franklin, Hall & Oates, Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway, Foreigner, Led Zepellin and AC/DC to name a few, later producing on his own acts of the caliber of The Rolling Stones, Slave, Odyssey, Roxy Music and Gang of Four, expanding in the ’90s to hip hop with records by Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Ginuwine, Jay-Z and Kanye West, to name a few.
WHAT IS MIXCON?
MixCon is a free educational event for musicians and aspiring producers/mixing engineers. Its goal is to advise them on the art of mixing, the science it’s based upon, and the techniques top engineers employ to shape the sounds in the directions they envision, and to make them coexist in a balanced fashion.
Because of COVID-19, in 2020 MixCon will be a virtual event, but it’s normally hosted in NYC, and includes a pro audio expo where our sponsors showcase their latest products and take the opportunity to educate visitors about plug ins, microphoes, audio speakers and more.
