Perhaps best recognized for her work on 1993’s Undertow, the full-length double platinum-selling debut for Los Angeles alternative metal band Tool, Oregon-based producer, mixer, engineer and author Sylvia Massy has also worked with artists as varied as System of a Down, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Brazilian band South Cry. She favors an unconventional approach to music production, which brought her to record in unusual places, from caves to castles to icebergs to submarines
WHAT IS MIXCON?
MixCon is a free educational event for musicians and aspiring producers/mixing engineers. Its goal is to advise them on the art of mixing, the science it’s based upon, and the techniques top engineers employ to shape the sounds in the directions they envision, and to make them coexist in a balanced fashion.
Because of COVID-19, in 2020 MixCon will be a virtual event, but it’s normally hosted in NYC, and includes a pro audio expo where our sponsors showcase their latest products and take the opportunity to educate visitors about plug ins, microphoes, audio speakers and more.
